The Eldar in Warzone
For use with Heartbreaker's Warzone
Sci-Fi miniatures game
by N. Barnes

Opening Comments: I hoped to make this list fair. In the interests of fairness, I tried not to depart too much from the lines laid out in the Warzone, while preserving some of the Eldar's flavor. Mostly, I tried to find something that approximates what I think the troop type in question would resemble, and I worked from there.

As a note, I'm trying to preserve the feel of Eldar, not the absolute numbers. If I tried to keep the Eldar at the same place, relative to the average human, as they are in 40k, then the Aspect Warriors would be quite formidable. Aspect Warriors are roughly equal to Space Marines, who are very much more powerful than normal humans. In my Warzone Eldar stats, Aspect Warriors are about equal to most Corp special forces (equiv. to Veteran IG squads, I think), more or less. On the other hand, Eldar are not radically more expensive, in terms of points, than other army lists, so it balances.

I figured that armor would be a point, as Eldar are rather fragile in 40k, with a T of 3. I also decided that a Warzone Armor Value of 22 would correspond to a 40k save of 5+, a Warzone Armor Value of 24 would correspond to a 40k save of 4+, and a Warzone Armor Value of 26 would correspond to a 40k save of 3+. I dropped the Warzone Armor Value of most Eldar from that point by one, to represent the fragility of the Eldar in 40k. Where possible, I used the Capitol list as the base. This list seems to be the least... quirky. For Sergeants, I used the pluses outlined in the Capitol section for Special Forces Sergeants, and figured that the cost would generally about 8 points.

This is version 1.0 of this army list. As the first edition, I'm trying to make a very basic list. All the Aspects, Guardians, basic Exarchs, Warlocks, and Farseers. I hope to include Harlequins and the Avatar in the next version of this document. In the longer term future, I'd like to eventually convert everything in the Eldar Codex for use with Warzone.

I'm familiar with the guidelines for converting 40k to Warzone, put out by Armoury. I read them, and took the ideas I liked, but I'm not following them to any great degree. They are not bad in general, but for Eldar, who have a fair number of special rules, I'm working from scratch. > Finally, a few points.

Please keep in mind these rules are experimental. They should in no way be taken as written in stone, and I may make change substantial parts of them before I'm satisfied. Moreover, they may have substantial flaws that I haven't seen, especially in things like the Mandiblasters or Banshee scream, so don't try using the, "But that's what the rules say," line, because it won't work.

If you have any comments or complaints, please please EMail me. Anybody who is actually helpful in making revisions will probably get their name in here someplace.

Lastly, I am in no way affiliated with either Games Workshop, Heartbreaker, or Gamecraft. I'm doing this in my spare time, and without any sort of authorization.
