True Soldier
by The Dragoon
I looked a Sergent Mckinly in ah. He was about 6' 11" and has been fighting the Dark Legion for 5 year. And his squad was made of of all veternan Hussars. I myself has only been in the Vesusain jungle 1 week. I had signed up for Hussar duty on Luna and here I am now. I wished could be like him one day, wise, strong, and looking like you had seen everything (which he probabaly had). Now THAT was a soldier. I myself was short and skinny. And had never seen combat.
Suddenly the alarm bell rang and we all automaticly ran to the trenches which separated Algeroth's citidel with the rest of Venus. I jumped into my trench and readied my Pazernaker. The big doors of the Citidel were open now and Hordes of undead Legionaries Swormed out of the Citidel towards our positions. I did not want to be the fool who wasted all of his ammo when the legion were out of range so I waited until the veteran squads opened fire. Tracers choped though the infinate ranks of the Legions but they kept coming. In some places whole squads of undeads just fell as Etole Mortant snipers picked of the Necromutants. I think I got 5 undeads before they charged. Then suddenly my com link became alive with reports of the positions being taken and heavy casualty. I was about to rout when I the order to retreat came. I was so scared I did not retreat walking backwards shooting the enemy like veteran soldiers. No I dropped my pazernaker and just ran. As I ran I could see the skimmers coming over the trees getting ready to pick us up. As the first one landed I ran as fast as I could but other newbies were running as fast as me toward the evac ships. I jump in on the skimmer and sat down and took my first look at the retreat. It was like a slaughter house dead everywhere. with hundreds of Hussars jumping the skimmers. Over the com link I could here that most of the skimmers were full and taking off. Then I saw him, Sergent Mckinly he was not getting on the skimmers, he was just standing there Pazernaker in hand facing the oncoming Horde. Over the com link I could hear the Commander telling him to get on the skimmer. His reply was short: "Honor Forbids it". I felt so ashamed of my cowardness that I pick up a panzernaker from a wounded man and jumped out of the skimmer just as it was taking off. I walked over to the Sergent and with out saying anything. I next to him. Panzernaker in hand. Together we rose our pazernaker to out shoulders and began to fire.....
