The Dark Way
by Grand Heretic of Algeroth

I have always found squatting in a bunch of thorn riddled bushes inextricably uncomfortable. Captain Briggs sure found a great patch for me this time. My name, although irrelevant, is Dirk Tallow. I am, regrettably, a Infantry Trooper in the employ of Capitol. Been that way for thirteen years, and probably always will be. Not the greatest of employments. True, I could always disobey orders, or pistol-whip my Seageant, and get a transfer to the Free Marines, but I could also get transferred to Maintenance and Janitorial. Neither one appeals to me. But, An opportunity came up before this mission that I could not refuse. Shall I explain?

The mission that we have been dispatched on is another frontal assault on one of the largest Citadels in the whole sector. Large quantities of dark troops have been active in the area, and in doing so, are infringing on certain mining and development areas that Capitol highly values.

While gearing up for my duty, a cloaked figure approached me. All my fellow troopers had not yet left their briefing, as I was given the assignment to guard and cut off all enemy advancement into the Capitol retreat zone. A boring job if our troops prove victorious, but if not, things could get ugly. Anyway, the figure who approached me did not identify himself, but only alluded to the fact that he was a member of high standing in the Bauhaus military. How this guy got into our barracks is a complete mystery, but I listened to what he had to say. He offered my a position as a Ranger in the Bauhaus military, with all the membership cards and documents to prove that I should be there. The only task I had to complete was to Stop all retreating Capitol troops from returning to base. In other words, kill them all. Now, as I have previously mentioned, I was doubtful of my future with Capitol. Being a Bauhaus Ranger sounded pretty damn good, despite the fact that I would be a Defector. Ah well, got to think about my future. I agreed to the task, and received an disa ssebled MG-80, to replace my pathetic Car-24 when I reached my hiding point. I stowed it in my provisions sack, and when I looked up, the man was gone.

So here I am, sitting with a thorn bush in my back, waiting to see the end result of the battle unfolding before me. I have reassembled my MG-80, and it lies across my lap, fully loaded, and ready to fire.

The battle rages on for hours, and it does not go well for us Capitol troops. My nose burns from the acrid smell of burnt Gunpowder, and an another most sinister odor can be detected, fear. I watch as a group of Karnophages tear apart an entire squad of Heavy infantry. Another squad of the same falls to the relentless pounding from the Nazgaroth of a Razide. Just when all seems hopeless, A force of Marian Banshees Sweep onto the field. They lay waste with their M50 AR's and the dark troops fall at every shot. But then, a Pretorian Behemoth steps from the gloom of smoke in the air. In short order, it pounds apart the Banshees. I see it pick up the Seargent of the squad, and rip his torso it two, and then four pieces. Minutes later, all is still on the battlefield. Our troops all lie dead, and the dark legion retreats back into the safety of the citadel.

But wait! Some figures begin to move from behind an outcropping of rocks! It is a half destroyed squad of Light infantry troopers, in fact, the same squad that I myself am part of! I stand and hail them, with my CAR-24 in hand. Just as they are about to reach me, a lone Centurion jumps from the bushes, slicing one of the four remaining troops from throat to belt buckle. I let loose on it with my SMG, not wanting to betray my Bauhas weaponry. The foul creature falls under the attack, and does not rise. The remain troops run past me, and start down the path to base.

Now, I drop my SMG and let loose into the back of the troopers with the M-80. Cowardly yes, but the job is completed, as all three troops fall dead to the already blood-sodden turf. While I am cleaning up t he evidence of my betrayal, The cloaked figure steps from a concealed spot not far from where I stand. I have no Idea how long he has been watching. He pulls back his hood, and smiles at me. I recognize him as Captain Wilfred Grovinski, Second only to General Constance Romanov in the Bauhaus Military. I smile back at the Captain, and then shoot him point blank in the face with my CAR-24. He slumps to the ground, never to rise again.

A shimmering wave appears before me, and my overlord and master steps out into the open. I fall before her in absolute lust, and hang on her every word.

"very well done, heretic" Says Golgotha with a sardonic smile on her face. "You have proved most useful. Now go to the citadel, for we gather an invasion force, and we have need of you." The monstrous being before me places a gnarled hand on my shoulder, and then steps back through the portal. The lust that ran through me dissapates, but I know now that I am hers.

I am hers forever.
