Capitol Apes

"Down with the Capital Security Service!!" Marcus chanted along with the group of rioters gathered in the backs streets of the San Dorado. "Police brutality will not be tolerated!"
The night before an unemployed mother was shot execution style in a back alley by an over zealous CSS officer for the crime of stealing bread to feed her children. Not that Marcus really cared, he was here for the excitement and in hope of the prospects of looting which sometimes accompanied these riots if they went unchecked. Hearing the sound of breaking glass Marcus smiled to himself, wondering if the looting had already begun. Smoke filled his eyes as `Lickeys Urban Wear' burst into flames as one of the rioters threw a molotov cocktail through the front window in between the iron bars that were meant to protect the store owner from looters like these. "Damn it!" shouted Marcus, "Don't burn everything down, leave something for us to take!"
Screams of anger erupt as a pair of CSS officers who had the unlucky assignment of patrolling this neighborhood tonight walked around the corner. The misfortunate pair barely even got their holsters unsnapped before the wave of the angry mob engulfed them. Marcus begin wondering if it was such a good idea to be involved in this riot, CSS does not take kindly to the murder of its officers and the sentence is death! Thoughts of escaping the riot were going through his head as the bullets ripped through him, reducing his chest to a pulpy mess of flesh and marrow. The last thing Marcus saw as he slumped to the ground was the image of a black Rat motorcycle spewing forth fiery death from its twin M50 assault guns, and the horrible grin of an Ape as he practiced `Riot Control'.

DESCRIPTION

The CSS (Capital Security Service) provides the basic police work for the cities of Capital. While the CSS is mostly widely respected by its citizens there is on branch of it that is feared by everyone, and rightfully so. The Apes or Armed Interdiction Police Squad are the riot control police. They are a highly mobile task force with the job of keeping peace in the cities and in times of war are sometimes used to fight in the defense of Capital. These brutal and mindlessly savage men and women usually could not make it as soldiers so they take this job instead. Their reputation of over running rioters with their RAT bikes or just shooting into the mob has done a good job of cutting the riot rate down in San Dorado to an average of just one per day.

SPECIAL RULES

Apes never rout. Because they are wheeled vehicles, Apes cannot cross walls. Any ape that rams an obstacle takes a DAM 16 (3) hit and the obstacle has to do the same. Apes cannot hide. Because they are vehicles, Apes may make only a single turn of up to 90 degrees during a single move action. Apes cannot charge or enter close combat. However an Ape can attempt to run over a person. To do this you simply move your model up to an enemy model and touch them. The model must then take a leadership roll to jump away or they take a DAM 16 (3) hit. The Ape may run down as many people it can touch during its move action.

EQUIPMENT

The Rat bike is armed with 2 M50 assault rifles mounted on the front. Use the normal M50 stats except the damage is (x2) to account for the extra M50. These guns cannot be aimed.

STRUCTURE

Apes are organized in leaderless squads of 2-3.

OUT OF CONTROL

When an Ape is killed the Rat bike careens out of control in a random direction often smashing into friend and foe alike. The bike goes D10 inches in a random direction. (roll on a deviation chart or roll "scatter" dice if you have them).

CONVERTING IDEAS

I am going to take the Space Marine Bike Squadron from Citadel Miniatures and the Capital Pilot from the Great Grey and with a little putty work have an Ape on a Rat bike! With the banner poles on the back of the bikes I will put a capital flag and an Ape flag. Hopefully I will find a use for the extra great greys I will have left over. Maybe make them into wreckage for the battle field or unmanned ones in a complex.

This is my first attempt at writing rule supplements so if you have any comments good or bad please e-mail me at Bstates@aol.com
